Live Music Week of May 16, 2012

5/16/12     The Wooten Brothers     3rd and Lindsley

This is their 20 year anniversay show.  I haven’t been in quite awhile however with the new set up at 3rd and Lindsley I”m sure there will be lots of dancing!

5/17/12      Women’s Work 2012      Looby Theater

Okay it’s not music but I’m sure it’ll be great.  I attended a couple of years ago to see my friend  Elizabeth Davidson do her amazing one person show and this year I’m attending to see my friend Edith read some of her short stories.

5/18/12     Steve Winwood with Michael Franti and Spearhead      The Woods Amphitheater at Fontanel

Without a doubt the place to be Friday night, unfortunately I do not have a ticket. However as my experience has shown me in the past, that doesn’t mean I won’t be there 🙂

5/19/12      The McCrary Sister, The Kicks, Umbrella Tree – need I say more!!!      Musician’s Corner at Centennial Park

This event gets better and better every spring and fall!  I missed the McCrary Sisters at 3rd and Lindsley I will not miss this!

5/19/12      Julie Grower and Bruce-Jon Brigham     Hotel Indigo on Union St

My good friends Julie and Bruce will celebrate their 5 year anniversary with some of their songwriting collaborations.  I’ve never been to this venue but it’s downtown and fancy schmancy so it could be fun!

5/19/12      Madeline Peyroux      Franklin Theatre

Too much to choose from.  I believe this lady is the closest thing you will get to hearing Billie Holiday live, it’s kind of eerie!

5/20/12     Delbert McClinton, The McCrary Sisters and Danny Flowers     3rd and Lindsley

When I was listening to Lightning 100 and these amazing women perform at their last 3rd and Lindsley show they mentioned that their sister was in the hospital, they are now having a benefit for her so this will not only be an amazing night of music it will also be for a worthy cause.

Live Music Week of May 1, 2012

5/1/12     Feist      Ryman Auditorium

I’ve had my ticket for quite awhile and I’m looking forward to seeing this lady live!

5/2/12      Charles Alexander, Kendra Chantelle, Bobby Hamrick and Keeley Valentino

Unfortunately I probably won’t get to this show but it’d be a mistake to not tell you about my great friend Charles and a fantastic round he’s put together. How can you go wrong at the Bluebird eh? Oh yea, you could talk, that would be wrong.

5/4/12      Terri Clark, The Grascals      Grand Ole Opry

As always I’ve got to give a shout out to my fellow Canucks however I just think it would be nice to see Terri and what she’s up to after all these years.  As for the Grascals well that’s just a no-brainer. Bluegrass virtuoso funtastic music.

5/4/12      Cheley Tackett, Annie Mosher, Tammy Fowler, Steff Mahan     Douglas Corner Cafe

Can’t afford tickets to the Opry?  This is another blast from the past but I bet these ladies are as fun and talented as ever.

5/5/12     The Delta Saints with Humming House      3rd and Lindsley

Another band I haven’t actually seen but the buzz around town about them over the past couple of years tells me this would be an excellent show.

5/6/12     The McCrary Sisters     3rd and Lindsley

Lots of buzz about this quartet as well but I’ve heard them with the Long Players and I can’t wait to hear them do you their own thang.  They come from  gospel royalty from what I’ve heard.

5/7/12      The Time Jumpers     Station Inn

A staple of the Gulch before the Gulch was the Gulch…just go!
