Live Music Week of September 10, 2012

Standard

9/10/12      The Time Jumpers CD Release      3rd and Lindsley

I can’t believe the Nashville Scene did not have this as the critics pick this week.  This long running Monday night hootenanny has moved to 3rd and Lindsley and will be a night not to be missed. Fiddles, Western Swing and Country the way it should be play and uh, Vince Gill!? It’s a no brainer!

9/11/12      Amelia White, Julie Christensen & Tommy Womack      Two Old Hippies

The Scene did get Tuesday right.   Amelia has been working hard and playing her own style of quirky (in the good sense) Americana for many years, Tommy is a Nashville treasure and a great writer on many levels and as for Julie, anyone who has sung with Leonard Cohen is a goddess in my books.

9/12/12     10pm  Corb Lund  Mercy Lounge  11pm Brandi Carlile  Cannery Ballroom   12am  Shovels and Rope  The Basement

This week’s Americana Festival will be incredible and it’s going to be impossible to see it all. Every night at every hour it’ll be difficult to choose so I’m giving you my top three for each night.

9/13/12  9pm  Angel Snow The Basement  10pm Mary Gauthier Station Inn or 10pm Jim Lauderdale and the North Mississippi Allstars The Rutledge

Yea it just gets harder as the week goes on…I may need to clone myself.

9/14/12  10pm McCrary Sisters Station Inn  or Darrell Scott Mercy Lounge  11pm  John Hiatt  Cannery Ballroom

It’s a great week to live in Nashville!  All this and more for $50!

9/15/12   10pm Tift Merritt  Mercy Lounge  11pm Buddy Miller & Lee Ann Womack  Mercy Lounge  or 11pm Rodney Crowell  Station Inn

I think Tift Merritt has one of the most beautiful and distinctive voices and I spent many hours listening to her songs over and over again when I used to live on cruise ships and had no idea what was happening in the real world.  I thought she was it!
